Electronic Wastes and the Environment

High-technology gadget is the fashion in today’s generation. Some people think that you are too old or outdated if you do not have the latest type of computer or cellular phones. Even cellular phones are not called as simple as “cell phones” but there are smart phones, iPhone, and palm. Having computers with bulky monitors and CPU is even considered obsolete since there are laptops, iPad, and even phones that can be used as computers. With this advancement in technology, comes the growth of electronic wastes and the environment is the one who suffer.

Since electronic wastes have harmful components that can cause health risk to humans and pollution to the environment, it is very much needed that it is properly disposed and managed. The harmful substance that electronic waste have that is considered a threat to the environment includes lead, copper, tin, mercury, sulphur and many more. Though these substance are also considered part of the environment since these are mostly minerals, but excessive and unprotected exposure to these are considered hazardous. Electronic wastes and environment safety should go hand in hand if these are managed properly.

Recycling and re-using of electronic wastes is considered as part of the most effective solution in controlling the e-waste issues. By means of dismantling the parts and re-using or even just saving it for future use, we can minimize electronic wastes and environment preservation will be achieved since we won’t need to use a new material that came from our natural resources. Manufacturing new materials also emits greenhouse gas that is unsafe for the environment. Re-use electronic wastes and environment safety will be accomplished. But of course, people who will process electronic wastes should be aware of the risk that they are exposed to in this kind of activity.

Even if recycling solved the problems in the growth of electronic wastes and environment safety is already achieved, the people who are exposed to certain hazardous substance should be protected as well.  Some of the negative effects that electronic wastes can affect humans include memory loss, sensory impairment, muscle weakness, dermatitis and many other types of illness. The developing countries who accept the export of electronic wastes should be greatly aware and impose regulation in terms of protecting and providing safety to their population. We should ensure the safety of the population from the hazardous impacts of electronic wastes and environment protection should also be the priority in processing these kinds of waste materials. Benefits of Mangrove Planting

Mangroves are salt-tolerant trees that grow in tropical and subtropical seashores. These areas are hard-hitting places for plants to grow. Mangroves can thrive in salty water and survive in harsh conditions because of their strong roots that can filter the salinity of the sea and only consume the fresh water it needs. Aside from its ability to stand against the salty water of the sea, Mangrove is also well known to contribute to the overall health of the coastal area by providing food, shelter and environmental protection for marine organisms, nest dwellers and even humans living near seashores. This family of shrubs traps and rotates different elements, chemicals, and minerals. Their roots acts as block and provide environmental protection for some various marine organism such as fish and seashells. They also provide food for various marine species such as oyster, shrimp, tarpon, jack, and snook. Not only the marine organisms benefit in mangroves, but their branches also serve

Save the Endangered Species of Davao

Davao Region or Southern Mindanao is located southeast of Mindanao. Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Compostela Valley. The Davao Gulf is bounded by these regions. Davao City is its regional center. As it lies outside the typhoon belt, rainfall is evenly distributed though out the year. The area is shielded from the rough weather by Mount Apo, the highest peak in the Philippines. This makes the fauna and flora of the region flourish, nurturing diverse and unique species. But pollution, deforestation, and excessive hunting left these species endangered. The most renowned endangered species of Davao is The Philippine Eagle . It is similarly called Haribon or monkey-eating eagle. Only found in the Philippine islands of Mindanao, Luzon, Leyte, and Samar, it is among the most endangered species of its kind in the world. Length-wise, it is the largest among its kind. Its broad-spanned wings ensure powerful flights. Due to its being rare and majestic features, private

Importance of MRF – Material Recycling Facility

What is MRF? MRF or Material Recycling Facility also known as Material Recovery Facility integrates conveyors system which is used for material recovery or recycling. It has sorting machinery wherein it divides recyclables according to end marketable usage. Normally, there are two different types of MRF, the clean and dirty MRF’s. Significance of MRF As we know it, recycling is one method of conserving our natural environment. And MRF systems play an important role in doing the method of recycling in a large scale basis. As an essential component of innovative waste management system by means of recycling, MRF greatly helps in conserving the environment. It lessens the extraction of our natural resources thus creating a more sustainable way of manufacturing new products. Aside from that is decreases the amount of waste materials in our community thus prevents the spread of environmental contaminants that may also bring dangers in human health. MRF also offers high processin
